"I personally struggled with terrible pregnancy sickness and taking any form of pill supplements was a real struggle. I saw a huge gap in the market, while brands were including fantastic ranges of vitamins, there was still something missing. After research and talking to our board of lactation consultants. The Mamma Power Patch is here to provide support on those days when swallowing tablets feels impossible, giving mums peace of mind."

Yes, our Patch is designed and safe to use throughout pregnancy right through to postnatal and breastfeeding.

Which pump you choose depends on personal preference. Both are wearable pumps, but they have unique features. The Compact is our most discreet pump, great for on-the-go use; it's slightly quieter and has fewer parts than the Original pump, with a capacity of 150ml. The Original pump is our entry-level model, slightly larger at 180ml, and is our best seller.

The use of Fenugreek dates pretty far back, mostly for traditional medicine and women’s health issues. Studies from the 20th century noted its potential benefits on breastfeeding and its popularity increased, specifically for issues like low milk supply. ⁣

  • As an IBCLC working with many families, I rarely recommend it to my clients. Fenugreek has more precautions than most herbal supplements which I find when working with my lovely mammas is impacting their feeding journeys. My top 5 reasons for avoiding it:⁣

    • Allergic Reactions: - Fenugreek is known to cause allergic reactions in some people, especially those with allergies to peanuts and chickpeas.
    • Thyroid Issues:: Some studies suggest that fenugreek may interfere with thyroid hormone levels - which is particularly concerning for mothers with thyroid disorders.⁣
    • Blood Sugar Levels: Fenugreek can lower blood sugar levels, which may pose a risk for mothers with diabetes or hypoglycaemia. ⁣
    • Digestive Issues:: Fenugreek passes through breast milk and therefore can impact babies in various different ways some of which are digestive issues , colic, grassiness, bloating , discomfort and more. Which can affect babies differently in various ways but mostly with abdominal problems and digestive issues. The element that often transfers is phytoestrogens. Always consult a health care professional before introducing, even in small quantities
    • Medication Interferance: : Fenugreek can interact with various medications, including blood thinners and diabetic medications⁣

As an IBCLC, I want to acknowledge that if fenugreek has been beneficial for you in the past, that's wonderful, and there’s no judgment here. However, As a brand we believe it's important to recognise that the marketing surrounding fenugreek often presents it as a “miracle” herb capable of resolving all issues. In reality, it can have negative effects for some mothers and babies which is why we have decided to make feeding as simple as possible by not including it in our patches. I highly recommend collaborating with an IBCLC or lactation consultant to tackle concerns about low milk volume. There may be various underlying issues contributing to low milk supply, and generic products may not effectively address the root cause.
